Beyond the Seeds
Our main objective is to develop a new generation of proteins, identifying new sources of bioactive components in the field of plant biology, and validating that they are suitable for incorporation into the trophic chain, both human and animal, contributing, in addition to their capabilities nutritional, a set of advantages that help the body to prevent and minimize the risk of certain diseases.

What have we discovered
New sources of basic fatty acids (Omega 3, 6 and 9) of macronutrients from vegetable proteins, and of micronutrients (antioxidants, vitamins and minerals) of natural plant origin, on species and varieties without previous studies.
These bioactive compounds, essential in human nutrition, are naturally present in prominent quantities in certain plant varieties that we have identified, through different extraction techniques and methodologies, during the R&D activities that our research teams are developing.

At the moment Cellbitec is in the patent phase of several of these bioactive components of plant origin, their different extraction methodologies, and their application as ingredients for the preparation of fortified foods.
Cellbitec has several research projects active, which have been partially funded through programs of the European Union and the Government of Spain, where evaluation screening and phytochemicals of high nutritional value are developed in different genera and plant species.
THE VEGETABLE BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS
They contain less purines, and are easier to filter and eliminate by the body, reducing the work for the liver and kidney.
They provide phytosterols, which help to counteract cholesterol, and their fats are unsaturated, healthier.
They make an important contribution of fiber, are easier to digest and stand out for being ideal for those low-calorie diets.
Its production is much more efficient and economical than those of animal origin, they are good for the planet.

Our R&D Projects
New bean varieties free of anti-nutritive elements for human and animal consumption
Project focused on obtaining, through specific genetic improvement programs, new varieties of bean resistant to diseases that also present absence of antinutritive factors such as tannins, which decrease the digestibility of their protein damaging animal production, or vicina and convicin, which can cause hemolytic anemias (favism in humans) and limit the use of beans in laying poultry by reducing the quality of the egg and its fertility.
